Love these two, loved the location and boy did we get lucky with the beautiful day! It rained the whole week before the wedding and magically like it was special ordered we got an amazing day with perfect clouds and light! These guys came from the great north to hang in one of North Carolina's most amazing places. I totally expected that we would have to wait til quite a bit later to get the good light shots and while we were shooting the wedding I noticed that the tide was coming in a little close. By the end I was told I might have 30 minutes before we completely lost the beach so we made a mad dash and shot some quick and amazing shots. These guys were so kind to let me change plans and get perfect shots throughout the day!

Engagements at the Fair

I got an email form these two a couple of weeks ago, sooo what would you think about doing our engagements at the fair, are you kidding I would love it!! Funny thing is I have a romantic shoot here Sunday too so this was a great time to practice since the other couple will be all dolled up in their wedding attire. These two were such troopers I started off by walking us in a huge circle, yay me. But at least we had a good lay of the land by so we could get crackin. Some of the vendors were so sweet to let us do rides free since all we really needed was to jump on get the shot and jump back off. I never expected the light to be so good either I had a bunch of equipment all ready ( Thank You Shena!!! for carrying it all over the place) and didn't really need it, Most of the shots are complete available light which I think really adds to the feel of the shot. Anyway I could go on forever cause this was so much fun but let me just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Mountain Wedding

This is one of my favorite weddings! These guys came from way up North and brought their close friends and family with them to enjoy the lovely NC mountains and share in their special day. I don't think anyone was disappointed the weather was amazing the view spectacular and the company was rockin! They were married in Mike's parents home (which I could easily call my dream home) it was an old barn transformed into perfection. I had a blast just walking around touring the home it was made even better with the opportunity to shoot this fantastic couple. Thanks guys for sharing your special day with me. I needed the reminder of what life is all about, sharing it with those we love.

I had the absolute privilege to capture this beauty last night and thankfully her hunny doesn't watch my blog so I can share her with you. I met her at the Ranson House in Charlotte, it is beautiful. This darling house and this beautiful bride immediately captured my eye and my heart. I couldn't wait to put her on the swing at dusk and capture the stunning columns on the porch. It was like a kid in a candy store with amazing light every direction. I can't wait to meet the lucky man who has managed to capture this beauty's heart.

When I did Allison's bridals a couple weeks ago we barely got them done before a downpour came down. Little did we know at the time but the whole time we were shooting at Elon just blocks away there was rain heavy rain. We both knew what a blessing it had been that we were able to get the shots we did and were grateful for that. This wedding seemed to echo this thought in my mind As we were doing some preliminary shots poor Allison's dress tore at the zipper. A bride's nightmare come true she smiled took the shot (she is a trooper) went to the bride's room and someone sewed her in her dress. Throughout all of this she kept a smile and was grateful for the blessings around her. She is amazing and Eric is one of my favorite grooms full of love for his beautiful wife and beaming from head to toe as he worked out every detail to make her day perfect. These two who serve God in all they do in life are truly blessed and I was blessed to share in the special spirit of their special day.

Singing in the Rain!

On a rainy Saturday Ashley very bravely went out in a field of wet grass with this amazing dress slung as high as it would go so as not to ruin it. Thankfully most of the grass wasn't too high and the blanket I brought was thick enough we walked away with just a few visitors on the dress that were easy to sweep away. But boy were these pictures worth the time. Ashley took my every direction to the max and was phenomenal to work with. Her poise was perfect and her arms, good grief she has some amazing arms, made for some great shapes. I truly can't wait to do her boudoir.....only need to find an old truck. Thanks Ashley for braving the rain and hope these make it all worth it.

In an effort to keep my skills sharp and learn from the best in the business I periodically do workshops, seminars, webinars and all sorts of fun stuff. My most recent endeavor has been in my mind to do all summer and I kept having to put it off due to my wonderfully busy schedule. Nicole V

is one of my favorite photographers and has truly inspired me as I fulfill my dream. I am so grateful to these wonderful artists who take the time and effort to put together these classes and share their insights in this field. Her presentation was so amazing I had to share it with you guys!

My second wedding at Tuscany Gardens and I am once again impressed with their simple location but beautiful gardens and light. DNS are an amazing couple surrounded by loving family and friends. So easy to shoot I ran out of planned pictures before I ran out of time! Love it! You know me I just kept on shooting. Even in the heat and humidity they kept smiling and made my job a breeze. I have a horrible confession to make about this wedding. A few months ago when I did Amber's bridals for the life of me I could not remember my initial consultation with her. On their wedding day I met with Dale and again I was drawing a complete blank. This was a first for me I am usually great with faces, names are another story, but I always remember faces. I was confounded! Then as I see the two of them in front of the preacher together hand in hand beaming it all came to me in a rush. I remembered every detail. They truly in every way completed each other. In my mind they were set as a couple brimming with love and happiness I couldn't separate them. Their wedding party and family were a blast! I haven't laughed so much in awhile and dad brought tears to my eyes. Thanks guys this was an amazing experience!

I am in love with this couple and this location! The Raleigh Art museum was beautiful and the light was indescribably perfect. They had such amazing exhibits I could hardly stop looking at the art to create a little myself. Keaton and I can't wait for the Norman Rockwell exhibit this fall. On a pretty miserable hot day this lovely couple bravely came outside under the lone tree to take some wedding portraits. Yes we coulda done them inside but you know me I love some natural light even at high noon (or shortly thereafter) in the blazing hot sun. It just looks prettier. Then again Jessica woulda looked amazing in a brown bag. Those pale green eyes and gorgeous tan made for some pretty amazing shots! The glow that radiated from her helped a little as well. A truly happy couple I am blessed once again to capture.

What a day! I am amazed at every wedding how these brides do it! Yet they do with smiles and laughter. Poor Monica asked for one thing and one thing only for it not to rain. With such a beautiful reception site I can see why, the possibilities were endless. But as you can see it did rain and it didn't really drizzle out til about the end of the reception. I didn't let that stop me though we took pictures throughout the evening and I pulled them out when it cleared and we still got some pretty cool shots! It was a beautiful evening and everything was planned perfectly. Again and again I am so grateful for beautiful brides who plan such amazing events and always pull them off with a smile no matter what happens!

Long time friends I was super excited to shoot one of my favorite families! We have been friends for years but distance has kept us from meeting up for quite some time. I had never met these beautiful girls and they hadn't seen us since I was pregnant with Colby. But in moments my boys and these girls were fast friends. Now I usually wait til I am completely done with a wedding before I post the pictures but it took me all week to get the first 500 done and these guys were so much fun I had to post something. So here is the biggest wedding party I have ever done and on a super bright day then to top it off good looking guys in white suits. My camera was giving me a fit. But I think we succeeded to make everyone look pretty good. And this was just the first go round we did a few more a little later in the day at the reception spot. Courtney gave me the amazing opportunity to shoot at Revolution Mills in Greensboro. I was a bit hesitant to shoot indoors but looking at the location online it looked like it would also have some outdoor availability as well. So I went for it, you know me I always love a challenge. Oh I am in love this is a new favorite place to shoot especially in the heat of summer. Great architecture and great natural light indoors I was in heaven (it also helped that the bride was spectacular). I just shot their wedding and there are more pictures than I have shot in a long time and I wasn't even there that long. Can't wait to shoot my next bride there! I could get used to shooting these young men, kinda like a bridal without so much fixing of a dress ;). Although I do love my brides and the girly time they give me. This young man has been a major part of our lives for quite a few years. When I married Mark I left my little brother behind to wander the states. I had helped quite a bit in caring for my little brother and I felt a loss when he was no longer part of my daily life. It was so nice when we moved to Hampton, Va and this young man decided to let us be a part of his life and let me big sister him even though he already had a few older sisters who were very much in love with him. He was about 12 then and full of questions and spunk. Over the years he has taken on several roles in our family as a mother's helper, babysitter, card playing buddy and best of all friend. We are very grateful for the influence he has had on our boys and the lesson's he has taught us in how to raise them. He was the best guinea pig ever. We are very proud he has decided to serve his church on a two year mission and pray he stays safe and continues to learn and grow with the same passion he has always shown!

It has been a fun year to have so many brides named Amy but I am sure the rest of you must think I am in love with my name and keep giving these brides fake names but I swear this is not the case. this Amy even shares the same last name as another Amy I am shooting. How can you not laugh when you have my job! Each girl is so unique and with such beauty to capture they may share names but that is where the similarity ends. Amy has the most astounding eyes. Not only does she have two eyes with different colors but the one with hazel is only half hazel and half this amazing blue. You know me and eyes I had to try to show that off! It was a little tricky but I think we did it. Such a super sweet girl with a dress and style all her own! She has traveled the world and is now settling in with the love of her life. Good luck and I can't wait to meet your beau on Sunday!!

As I was heading to Reidsville we got hit by a huge storm hail, rain and heavy wind. For the first time since I have been shooting I was a little worried about the outdoor wedding. Then I arrived and Sara per her norm was calm and ready to get married no matter what. The rain let up and we thanked the Lord as I captured some fantastic shots of a couple who beamed from head to toe. They worked hard (Andrew even made the centerpieces which were phenomenal) together and put on a simple yet elegant affair that I loved being a part of. If this is the beginning of what these two are capable of doing together they have a wonderful road ahead!

..... is posting the bridals of my gorgeous girls! Sara is as easy breezy as they come. She found out the day of her bridal that her location had double booked so we moved her bridal out a week while she worked on getting a new location just weeks before her wedding. I was expecting a totally stressed bride not Sara she hardly looked ruffled and her new location made for some pretty amazing bridals. The Belmont Estate http://www.belmontevents.com/ was a beautiful place with a third floor ballroom that made my heart sigh to think of the fabulous parties that must have been thrown there. I am a sucker for old houses needless to say. And Sara has a striking beauty that loves my camera. What more could I ask for?

A growing boy

Just finished a bridal this evening and was glancing through some test shots I took of my oldest son who has been assisting me lately on a few shoots. He is really a great kid he's learning quickly what I need and why. He claims he isn't interested in photography but I can see that he is learning to be a good worker. At 12 he is a big boy, as big as his dad already. People have always commented on his size and over the past few months I am beginning to see how my little man is truly not so little. It is not just his size which makes me see this, I have been truly blessed with a little boy who has always stood head and shoulders above other children in every way. His 3rd grade teacher once said that at an age where every child was becoming self conscious and trying to fit in with the crowd Keaton was sure of who he was and didn't mind if that was different than everyone else. I still remember the tears in her eyes as she talked about him. He has that kind of impact on you. He has stayed true to himself and his beliefs in an era where children are faced with challenges I never dreamed possible when I was his age. He as always been the perfect big brother kind and loving looking out for the little guy before himself. I keep waiting for the days people talk about where their children get sulky and distance themselves from their family. Keaton plays ball with his dad, grabs Gavin and tickles him just enough so he doesn't cry, plays Star Wars with Colby, follows his little cousins around like he was their soul protector and isn't afraid to cuddle up to his mom on the couch. I really like this kid even if he is growing his hair out a little longer than I would like. He is fun to have around and I am grateful that he is mine.

Now that I have seen this little woman married I can post her amazing pictures! I met Whitney and Daniel with her father early last year. Daniel is one of my amazing grooms who pretty much planned his whole wedding because Whitney was super busy doing student teaching. I immediately fell in love with them as a couple. She came in with an infectious smile and just cuddled up on the couch with Daniel. I loved how she seemed to just be at home wherever she was and he couldn't look at her without melting. Her dad was beaming and I knew this was going to be a wonderful ride. We did their engagements and they were amazing totally at ease and so easy to set up. Whitney and I took a few minutes afterward to talk about her bridals. She hadn't had hardly a minute to think about hair or anything. So she told me what she was thinking and I gave her a few idea's from my little knowledge and together we came up with a pretty cool idea and two weeks later I was trying to create it. I think we did a pretty good job considering I am no hairdresser or florist. I truly think the bride made it all work. With that infectious calm giddiness that just makes me smile and a love of life that just draws you in how can you not go gaga over the idea of capturing her.

What a beauty! I took a day and traveled out to the place where three years ago Monica had seen a bride doing her portraits and thought with her friend what a great idea. Now she was able to have her go at it! I was more than happy to oblige. ECU's campus is really very nice and has tons of shade. I know we probably just hit the tip of the iceburg with where we shot but they are some pretty cute shots! I was even more excited when Monica said Curt promised not to check out the site til the wedding so I could post some shots!! Thanks Curt you rock! These guys won a free shoot from an event they went to. I am so excited to get the opportunity to just do a mother and her son. Jayme is an amazing mom who was so patient and kind with her little fellow (not to mention stunningly beautiful). We all know how stressful it is to get pictures made always worrying that something will spill before you get there or that there will be tantrums. She read her son like a book and knew just what he needed and when he was done she was good to go. I am so bad at pushing my kids and I learned a valuable lesson when they are done let them go because you more than likely got what you needed and if you didn't there is always tomorrow. Thanks guys and hope you like the pictures!

Simone is not one of my clients her photographer was having preterm labor and asked me if I could fill in. I was very nervous to shoot someone whom I had never met. For those who know me I love getting to know my clients and have a good idea of what would suit them best before they are ever in front of my camera. Simone was a brave soul to go out on a limb to allow me, someone she had never met nor had she even seen my work to know if she liked it or not, to shoot her. This was my first mini session of the season and it was so cold. I was really glad we only had a few shots to get. Little man was such a trooper though lookin for little snacks all over the place and posin like a model. I loved having the 4th member of the family little lambie he really made for some shots that will be treasured memories forever. These guys are a barrel of fun! They may have been active but they were happy and it made all the difference in the world to create some fun and lively shots! Grandma and Grandpa were in town so we took a minute to do a quick mini session and everyone was such great sports about the freezing weather. Fortunately there was some sun to keep us a little warm. Now here's the test there are definite differences in these two but can you catch it (and can you see them as they run at you) I know I can't, I can barely tell the difference in my own boys baby pictures I have to refer to the backdrop to know who is who. Such a cute family! When Holly called and asked to go to Pinehurst I was so excited to have a new playing field to go too. I got there about 30 minutes early and fell in love! Such an adorable little town and a great family who were willing to try anything! I can't wait to get a few more in the studio of little Bexley!

Love this family! They totally remind me of the time when I had only two little guys. The time when it's all fun and games and no time for seriousness. They will grow all too soon and then you get maybe a year or two of peace then puberty hits and it's another roller coaster. I have to laugh because even though my oldest is 11 there are days when I see that two year old frustration just as clear as day still going on in his face. These little guys were real troopers and were such fun to deal with. Thanks guys!

Oh the Choices!

I have had these two on the books longer than anyone else and I am just getting the opportunity to shoot their engagements. Boy were they worth the wait! We starting shooting Friday night and the light just went so quickly I asked if they would be willing to try for the next morning as well. They said they were up for anything. My oh my it was so awesome! Lyndsie is a Divinity student at Duke and so it was important to them both that we got a few shots around the chapel. So after taking the evening at the Gardens we spent the morning at the chapel. I really liked the shots they got, so much diversity and even in the freezing cold shade they did whatever and it just worked. It took me forever to narrow down and I think I sent them about all of the pics in emails because I was so excited at how well they turned out. I am so glad I didn't try to push it all into one evening. It goes to show when the light and timing are right anything is possible! Well it also helps to have the best clients ever!

Claire and Alan

I loved how Claire couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole day. Her bubbly cheerfulness was completely contagious, I can see why Alan chose her she truly lit up his whole countenance. On a cold miserably raining day these two got married when I arrived she just smiled and asked if it clears up for only a minute could they try to get a few pictures in the pumpkin patch. I said of course but didn't hold my breath it was pouring cats and dogs. She didn't even flinch it was almost as if she knew if she didn't worry too much it would all work out. They had a beautiful service and we did all the family shots in crunch time because they needed the chapel for a Saturday service and as we exited the chapel the sun started to peek. It was perfect and as you can see she got her wish and boy am I glad she did!
